The Good: The engine is the headlining act with the 2018 Husqvarna 701 Enduro. Though it is based on the same bike as the KTM 690 Enduro R, the Husqvarna get its own, all-new, refined and slightly larger 693cc engine. It was hard to find a situation where power wasn’t readily available.
I have a 2014 690 duke and that's exactly where I have my most severe vibrations as well. It's a common issue with this motor that ktm actually addressed this year by adding a second counter balancer on the cam shaft. Nothing to be worried about I always just try to keep the rpms a little higher or lower to avoid constant vibration. Hope this

Posted December 19, 2018. There's a vastly larger pool of owners on ADVrider. From my research I believe with no major bad luck and reasonable maintenance the 690 engine should go 60,000 miles without a rebuild. There's guy in Europe with 100,000 miles on his. Not sure when he did a new piston but he posted it was not in bad shape when he did
There have been reports of the carbon in the canister losing it's structural integrity and depositing carbon into the intakes of bikes where the canister is mounted above the intake, such as on my BMW R1100RT, my BMW R1150GS, my KTM 990, and my BMW R1200GSA. My KTM 690 Enduro R did not have the canister above the intake level, but I removed it

Received 2017 -701 , & Selling my 2014 -690, KTM 690 2018 are supposed to have this Updation of 701 like Secondary balancer shaft & Bigger bore with shorter stroke + Extra 1000 rpm .Extra 5 bhp & 4 Nm Torque .New ENGINE is Smooth & powerfull. The 2018 KTM 690 is exactly like the 2017 KTM 690.
